Sophie Falsini
Sophie Falsini is a Mercator Fellow and consultant with CGAP whose research focuses on how social norms affect women in rural and agricultural livelihoods and the financial services they use. She has a background in European affairs, human rights, and development cooperation. Previously, she worked for the European Commission, dealing with the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe, and MENA; Austria's Permanent Representation to the EU; the Institute for International Affairs; the Uzbek Forum for Human Rights; and Human Rights Watch. Sophie holds a master's degree in European studies from the European University Viadrina in Germany and an undergraduate degree in foreign languages and international relations from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. She spent several semesters in Russia, Estonia, and Ukraine and is fluent in Italian, German, English, French, and Russian.
